Shortly:
* A "version" is defined as something that changes the game. Another language version is not considered as a "version" but a mere translation for a version (each version can exist in several languages).
* All versions share the same game page, same forums.
* Ratings are version-speficic. Stating version is mandatory, though selecting "applies to all versions" is one option.
* Marketplace must be version-specified.
* All posts are tagged to one or several versions. When posting, noting which version the post is about is mandatory, though "all versions" is default.
* When browsing the page, just like one can filter posts today, one can filter to see all posts or just posts tagged to a specific verison. All posts are marked which version they're about.
Cosmic Encounter is one game, in several versions (and language editions). Ticket to Ride is one game, in several versions. Monopoly is one game with several versions.
Would be messy to program but would be a lot more intuitive when browsing games, ESPECIALLY for newcomers who don't have to wonder "hmm, I wonder what the differences between all these Cosmic Encounters are? Should I post in Cosmic Encounter, Cosmic Encounter, Cosmic Encounter or maybe even Cosmic Encounter?"
That, and the fact that I'm a database OCD case. I like things well categorized.
