Revisiting an old favorite here for some dungeon crawling and was reminded why we never used the Aimed Shots or Crippling hits rules when we were playing ITL years ago. (Advanced Melee)

These two rules seem to drastically compromise the system when dealing with larger/stronger/tougher combatants. If a high DX character can simply take a giant out with one good DX -6 shot to the head, a giant is suddenly far less a threat. Crippling targets with -4 DX shots to the legs or wings etc. or even worse, lopping limbs off permanently with an only marginally lucky roll?

I find it hard to believe these rules are taken seriously but am wondering if anyone used them for any length of time and how they presented? Were they as unbalancing as they seem or am I just overreacting at a first read?
