This has been discussed elsewhere, but MR really is a different kind of game. Hard to compare - where MK feels modern and streamlined, MR is somewhat mired in very oldschool design philosophies.
I still maintain that MR, however, is the most unique game in my collection. Lots to learn, lots to try, lots to do. Very cool stuff, but hard for guys who were raised on Euros to get into. Took me several weeks of dedicated study to finally understand not only the rules, but how to play the game 'correctly'.

Magic Realm was one of my faves when I had over 300 games. Unfortunately a 20 year hiatus away from board gaming saw the loss of that and every other game I owned. I suppose I'll have to try to snag another copy and reacquaint myself with it at some point.
