Thanks for your insight. You are correct, the starting point for the creation of Allied HeroQuest was "players vs player". I wanted to erase the 'passiveness' of the storytelling-gamemaster.But to counter some of your comments, the original 'Quest-feeling' remains. The Heroes play the same quests as in the original board game. I only added extra options for the GM. To give the GM some 'punch'. To make it 'grittier' for the Heroes.
But offcourse, AHQ is not an RPG. It is a hack 'n slash dungeon crawler. It was always like that. Search, discover, kill Orc, kill Fimir, search, open door, kill Mummy ...
