This is the First Dungeon crawler game I actually hate and I don't want to.
It is a tactical game, within fantasy settings comparable with a dungeon crawler game.
It is thus quite understandable that one does not like Descent 2 if one expects something else than what it is.
OTOH, I do think that D2 does present a learning curve, and that it asks a volume of practice and of reflection quite different from the "kill all monsters in sight and loot the treasure chests" type of game.
The fact that there are varied opinions about the balance of this or that quest does seem to indicate that many factors enter the system.
I have been playing perhaps twenty times single quests up to now and I am still learning, discovering the subtleties of victory conditions, etc.
