I didn't say they were too powerful, I was just saying that there are more powerful interactions you can do with a wand than tossing a Thunderbolt on one.You can sometimes get into board positions where someone is at a severe disadvantage. If you finish someone with a wand, that doesn't mean the wand is broken, it just means that your opponent no longer had any viable means of dealing with everything you were doing.
Are wands powerful? Yes. However, you are placing far too much emphasis on your conclusions based on limited experience. What you should take away from a game like that is that wands allow you to punish people in weak board positions. An Elemental Wand allows you to apply pressure to someone, but they are hardly the only means of doing so.
