Yes, TA made this part clearer on the monsters that came with that set; however the TA rules don't address any changes to battle effects on monsters from earlier Thunderstone games and expansions. There's a discussion in the TA Rules forum under "Compatibility Questions" that says AEG's response is to treat these earlier Thunderstone cards by the same rules of the original Thunderstone game, i.e., battle effects that destroy cards are applied after determining the victor, even when playing them with Thunderstone Advance.
