WARNING!!! Do not read this unless you've completed the Malathrex contract. [o]Need a rules clarification for the Kneel Before Malathrex! contract. We had a disagreement as to it's interpretation. The contract states that "Any player may give up 20 victory pts in tokens and gold dring their turn as an offering to Malathrex. Read entry 56 at the end of their turn. If any player has 2 dragon eggs before the offering is made, read entry 71.
There were at least 2 confusions on this because the player who triggered the contract to come out decided to make the offer. However, they also had 2 dragon eggs and could only make the offering if they included their eggs in the offering. In addition, they then read entry 71 and chose the option to run away, which ends with "Destroy the contract."
The way I interpreted this is that the player must and can only read entry 71 and that contract is then destroyed. This seems very clear to me, but I was overruled. 2 others interpreted it as being able to read both entries, which resulted in that person healing and removing 5 of their cubes from the bag and then in the 5 dragon cube attack, both other remaining players died (one with an artifact and above ground). The remaining player then also read entry 56 and got another approval mark, acquired a card from the adventure row for free and teleported to the start to end the game and win by 12 pts.
This latter interpretation seems way wrong to me, but can anyone weigh in since this (in our case) actually determined the winner of the game?[/o]
