I've read a fair chunk of posts in this forum and this thread has me baffled to say the least. Someone saying they played 12 games (Easy & Normal) and not losing a single one seems fishy to say the least. There's a lot that you can prepare for but across the full range of locations, draws and regular mishaps, this game requires luck.I've played 2 games now, taking many hours for both so that I could take in the many mechanics and character specific traits. This resulted in a fail before round 6 and a fail on the last creature. The 2nd game had a final turn starting with the prospects of a 9 card Line, followed by a 4 card Horde. I had 7 or 8 firewood and straight off I managed to get rid of a couple of enemies. Then I hit a Wyvern (-3 fire) which reduced my visibility. I took him out and before I could remedy it, a Graveshifter brought him straight back. I was already using big dice and exhausting cards when I got an Ember Drake. Again, -3 fire, then I had to take on a Zombie Horde and a Bandit before the nail in my coffin: a Fell Beast that brought out a Forest Giant. There's absolutely no way you plan to take on those. Sure, you can keep the fire high and reduce the Horde building up but what nailed me was the random order of tanks all bunched up. I really like the game and enjoy the theme a lot but sometimes you just can't redeem bad luck. It's really not a puzzle that you have to try to solve if the solution requires more resources than you can muster. I had 1d6 and 3 untapped abilities to quash 18 points of creature health or 4 damage. I didn't even have poor dice at the start of the round.
