So spoilers obviously but I'm going to mention my opinions on all the unique mechanics Legacy introduces and let you keep post-campaign. In no particular order. At start of the game, everyone is randomly given Acquisitions themed positions each of them are fantasy parodies of office-related positions such as Decisionist,(Team Manager) Documancer(Accountant) etc. These replace sidestep to point there is no copy of sidestep in Legacy. They give you 1 move and 1 skill but they also grant you bonus abilities. Such as allowing 1 free move out of a forest space (and only 1 move) or making market items cost 6 instead of 7. Some rely on other players like Occultant (if a monster counting the goblin is killed before your turn discard this and draw 3) personally my favorite is Occultant and Cartographer. (the one about forests) I think having 'classes' is a neat mechanic.
If you played In Space then Wights (I tend to refer to them as ghosts) are the same mechanically speaking as Mercenaries whereas when pulled all players take 1 damage. Unlike mercs, you must willingly decide to add them to the bag. However, you get rewards for braving ruins. (where you get wight cubes) I frankly try to avoid ruins unless I really need to get the rewards or that space is the fastest route.
These are awesome you can throw them away (to Dragon Attack Bag) to ignore 1 monster space on routes or activate various cards that always tell you to kill them. Hey, it's not like your paying them... A lot of the best cards require an intern you can imagine however you like the unfortunate circumstances they get into when you discard them...
These are like 15+ (depending on playthrough) magical items that everyone gets at start of the game during set up. You pull out 3 at random put it in discard pile then activate any if at all Acquire effects. Most of these are +1 or 2 clank which is really annoying in my book but they tend to be pretty op and often vary between the fact you can only use them now and then when you draw them to once per game effects that require trashing after use.
Like 4 of these are the cast from Acqusitions Inc (which is why the game doesn't recommend using Upper Management set for during campaigns you could explain away way Omin Dran is a companion in the adventure row deck and your Patron but as patron, available to buy in shop and someone playing him? Even with the wacky tone of AI, in general, having the same person appear 3 times at once and himself employing another version of himself while following orders from a third version of himself is 100% mind screwy) the others are original characters for Clank but still wacky looking and in tone with AI. They often have a setup condition and an end game scoring criteria as well as a Power. On the Dragon, Track is an envelope seal when the dragon track reaches this space the Patron's ability activates and usually affects everyone. They vary and I have not tried them all yet but the Vampire Patron is pretty sweet.
Oh boy! These cards vary between being a pain in the butt to being awesome. These are green and black cards and like Dragon, Rage cards do not start in the adventure row (you could theoretically have DR cards out on set up but they tend to be super expensive and would take several turns to buy) they have when revealed do as they say discard this then pull a new card till it's not an event card. Some force you to discard or suffer a horrible effect some just say if this condition is true then everyone who meets it gets x. There are not many Event cards so they don't happen very often.
These six magical temples to the six natural elements (Earth, wind, fire, water, light, and darkness) exist only on the other side of the board and grant you devastating abilities that activate once per turn. These vary from a bonus gold, fight, skill every your turn once per turn to ignore all monsters on a path once per turn. These are hard to reach and when obtained the Temple's Blessing Token teleports you straight to the middle of the board where it's quite nasty to move out of. Powerful? Heck yes. Worth it? It depends on your strategy.
