So, the Kickstarter showed some rules that seem to have disappeared in the final version.
Specifically, you would gain ½ a focus whenever you missed, and you could spend 1 focus to reroll an attack.

Does anyone know why these rules were removed?
Anyone able to judge how much it would skew the game if I introduced them as house rules i my games?

Hi Neo Geo!

Yes, we removed those rules after extensive play testing. Those rules unbalanced the game by a great amount. Heroes that attacked more times turned extremely efficient with those rules, while the monsters became excessively easy to defeat. As @snoggle1981 well said, Focus Abilities are very powerful abilities. With he previous rules they could be exploited and break the balance of the game.

Finally, we would not recommend that you use them as house rules as they can drastically affect the balance and the challenge level of the game. That is only our suggestion, though.

Any plans to add some kind of mitigation mechanic in the expansion?

Hi Justin!

When those rules were excluded from the game, we already made other changes to make up for the loss of the mitigation.

On this final version of the game is considerably easier to hit an attack. Thresholds to hit were +10 or +11 and were lowered to +8 or +7, for example. In addition we have increased the amount of skills with that hit automatically. Statically, that alone makes it much easier to attack and cause damage which when tested, showed that there was little need to add mitigation.

About the expansions, it still quite early for us to say if there will be any mitigation rules for the next expansions to come.

Thanks, eagerly awaiting my delivery!
