I suppose that all depends on which aspect of Magic you obsessed about. These two games share a deck building aspect, but MW seems much less combo oriented than Magic. In my limited experience, it seems to me that building a good MW spell book is more about ensuring that you have the flexibility to deal with your opponant than it is about building a cohesive deck.

I don't mean to suggest that MW lacks interesting card interactions. Quite the contrary. It's just that you are not necessarily building a game engine like you are in Magic.

Also, the fact that you have all of your cards available to you in MW means you are not constantly experimenting with mana ratios and spell mixes.
