That could sound possible.I just thought a concept that might not require as many tools.
Instead of playing as one Hero. You are the Quest Giver that sends Heroes to fight bosses.
Game assumption is base set with no KS items. Also not sure how to implement spells yet so will think later.
So first you will shuffle the 8 bosses.
Then lay them out in a vertical line, like this. B for boss card, _ for rooms
You then deal starting from the top a room to each boss.
_ _ _ _ R B1
_ _ _ _ R B2
_ _ _ _ R B3
_ _ _ _ R B4
_ _ _ _ R B5
_ _ _ _ R B6
_ _ _ _ R B7
_ _ _ _ R B8
So basically the goal is to defeat all 8 bosses which requires a total of 40 wounds and you have 56 in total with all 40 heros. May need to lower number of Heroes if needed.
So you draw a hand of 4 from the Hero deck shuffling Epics and normal.
Use a token or coin or something to note which monster dungeon you need to enter. So you will start sending in Heroes from your hand and drawing one at the end of your turn.
You will send 1 Hero/Epic Hero into the dungeon to deal damage to the Boss if possible.
If you are able to deal damage to the boss, the boss of the same type will get "warned" and you build another room in front of the second boss.
Then proceed the dungeon marker to the next dungeon below.
Eg.
You attack B1 who is a mage boss, B3 who is a mage boss gets warned and builds a room in their dungeon. Then you draw a Hero card and proceed to B2.
_ _ _ _ R B1 1 Wound
_ _ _ _ R B2
_ _ _ R R B3
_ _ _ _ R B4
_ _ _ _ R B5
_ _ _ _ R B6
_ _ _ _ R B7
_ _ _ _ R B8
This way the game is based on how well you play your cards. Spend all your epics early then you might not have enough heroes to beat all the bosses.
Maybe depends on how challenging, can make Boss do # of treasures/3 rounded down damage to the hero. If you send a mage hero to the mage boss it negates this ability and make them easier to beat?
Any questions welcome, writing this half asleep.
