If you have cards like Charons Obel and Arcane Research, they're definitely worth it, but 2 points:
• It feels a bit cheap to earn XP that way
• You should best have played them already once. Going into them blind can be very dangerous.

The card rewards are... ok? Unless you just happen to be a character that synergies well with them, but I wouldn't want to do the missions for the cards.

If you can't beat the game consistently on Hard yet, I definitely wouldn't try Guardians of the Abyss. That one can be pretty brutal if you don't know what you're doing.

Wow, that's such a good idea!

1. Does using the EXHAUST ability on cards in your play area count as the Action used during your action step?

2. How are FEINT abilities used? I played as Brandon, and his COMBO effects were easy because the cards told me to. I didn't see anything like this on Kyoryu deck.

3. Can items be used outside of your turn?

4. Cards in play without a keyword in front of the descriptor text: are these considered always active passive abilities? I.e. effects that don't cost your Action step?

Sure but that's fan material, not from the designer. I guess I should have been clearer, because I disregard such stuff.

Unless we see a boxed expansion like Amber Mines (unlikely for TAW2E or EOTV2 it seems) there's no precedent for Red Raven releasing an official solo/co-op mode for their games that I'm aware of.

Maybe give fan content a chance? Some of it is quite good.

I wouldn't advise playing them when being under the Charon's Obol.

Hi mates!

I haven't found much time to update the English version here, but you should know that my proud bone men have been played regularly since their creation, and are now well balanced to my mind.

To give you an idea, here's a video from the Quebec Youtube channel "Es-tu Game", which did me the honor of filming a game with my <3 faction

Youtube Video

I promise to come back here after the end-of-year festivities to update the English version.

Merry Christmas!

Hey guys,

Im currently reading the rules and have some serious issues understanding them - especially thy attributes part.

How do I calculate the cost of raising attributes - its so weird.

Here is my question
Does the total value also include the attribute points I am going to advance?

For example: Aggression: 2//Empathie: 1 - I want to raise E. To 2; so the totale value is 4 (A:2 + E:2)?

To calculate cost, add the existing values of the relevant attribute pair, add 1, and then multiply the sum by 2.

I have uploaded some power counters to the file section for this topic.

The power counters consist of:
• [BGCOLOR=#006600]Dark Green[/BGCOLOR] for permanent power eg. the ones that came with the introductory of 'Monster Smash'.
• [BGCOLOR=#33CC00]Light Green[/BGCOLOR] for temporary power eg. cards like "All minions here have +1 power" or "Play on a minion, this minion has +2 power".
• [BGCOLOR=#CC0000]Red[/BGCOLOR] for negative effects.

Visually these counters help a lot. Download link above.

1. No -- The Exhaust ability is something you can use whenever the card is not exhausted ---- even if its not during your turn (another player's turn, enemy phase, stage phase, etc..)

2. Feint abilities are on tactics cards -- You can use them on cards that have already been played to the table, but after you do so you must discard it. Like exhaust abilities, this doesn't cost you an action.

3. Yes

4. Yes

Any time I've played it I just go with if you clear the *entire* floor once, assume you can clear it x amount of times again gaining the souls for each tick of the spark. Stop at the number of spark(lives) you are comfortable with for the boss. If you die in the boss fight, again auto assume you clear it up to the boss.

Hey man. I love this game too. This is the best social deduction game I have ever played.

To your questions.
Yeah 20 seconds are too much. There are some apps on internet where you can set interval of time for each secret role. We are using 10 seconds per role at night and 20 for cultists. So with the timer it is so much faster.

In larger groups we will play some loud music with interval app and everybody stand and go to to nearest wall. Everyone close their eys and when is your number called you open your eyes and go to the table and do your actions

I would have to agree. Some are quite good, while others proved somewhat disappointing. But for the good solo variants that do play well and with balance, I am grateful to fans who took the time to allow me to play some of my favorite games that wouldn’t get to my table nearly as much.

Thread: Bargain Quest:: Rules:: Hero gold accumulation question

$

by kakitamike

Played my first game last night, and had one question constantly asked by the players, to the point where I was repeatedly double-checking the rulebook like I missed something, even though I think we were playing correctly.

Is the only gold a hero accumulates after an adventure the monster reward? (Special abilities aside) it just felt weird that a hero enters town with say, 25 gold, spends all his money, then if he survives, tosses away all his gear and comes back with less money (10 in the case of the bandit captain for not defeating him) to spend. It makes it harder to equip the adventurer to win next time.

At one point we just started ignoring defense and going for attack, because it made more sense to send an adventurer off to die then it did to try to make it so he comes back alive.

This was especially true as we progressed, as the monsters got harder, but the surviving heroes still felt very gold poor.

Thread: Gloomhaven:: Rules:: Question about a card from the 3 Lightning class *SPOILER*

$

by DireKushko

So like the title says I have a question about a card from the 3 lightning class (the card in question is an "X" level card):

[o]My question is about the 3 heal on the card Unbridled Power. I have been looking around and some people suggest that the bottom 3 heal only happens when you play the card and not on every turn, which would mean that the only persistent effect is the 26 max hp. The reason why this does not make sense to me is that the class has 26 hp at level 9, which would make this cards persistent effect completely pointless if it does in fact only heal once when you play it. Is there any definitive answer to this question? I believe that it should heal 3 every turn, but then again, that does seem a bit powerful.[/o]

Cheers!

It's not for me (nor is a solo mode). I'm very much a canon only guy - I don't even houserule stuff I don't like, but will wiat until errata (or not at all), I'd rather play the official game (and know I've built up experience in the same game I'm going to play anywhere).
